Dave Ferguson & The Lonesharks
The Lonesharks are Cape Town's own highly entertaining "true to the genre" Chicago Blues band, They play their own highly original brand of Blues mixed with Louisiana Cajun and the recommended daily allowance of Country Twang.
.
Dave Ferguson has to be one of the best harmonica players in the world. This man is a show on his own! With an arsenal of interesting equipment including an ancient microphone from the 50’s he manufactures some of the most amazing sounds you have ever heard from an harmonica. Ferguson is a master of the lost art of “live looping” That means a piece a music that is played live, is recorded on stage and then played back seconds later in a “loop”, while the artist then plays together with this newly created “track” When several “loops” are created simultaneously, the result is truly astonishing!
Ted Baumann a seasoned Blues veteran has been laying down the Blues since Van Riebeeck first came to the Cape....
He knows the Blues as well as anybody and tells a mean story though his Chicago blues infused guitar playing.
Paul Tizzard, the highly acclaimed drummer for The Usual is as solid as a piece of lead and together with Roger Bashew on Bass they form a formidable “engine-room” that keeps the rest of the band right in the groove
Dave Ferguson was born in Cape Town where at the tender age of 17 he start ed playing the harmonica and cut his teeth in various Blues, Rockabilly, Rock and Country bands.
He returned from the UK where he has been living and working for the last 10 years including a stint in Nashville and some gigs in Australia. Something of a regular on the London Blues scene he also played with the now US based Alt. Country outfit "The Arlenes”, Emily Barker (The Low Country) and John Townes Van Zandt. He has appeared on a number of commercial releases one of which went double platinum in the UK and Ireland.
So, if you’re planning to spend an evening with the Lonesharks, expect some energetic Blues-harp and guitar driven tunes, amazing individual skills and an unavoidable good time...
