Heather Mac & The Brills
Imagine a band of four singer-songwriters, each with their own discernable songs and sound, imagine a band made up of four different voices, each with the ability to touch your heart and soul. No need to imagine anymore, The Brills offers their audience all this and more. All the players in this group to varying degrees have had their moment in the spotlight through radio play, television, stage performance or large rock concerts.
The Brills is made up of Heather Mac, (vox, guitar) who has had great success in the 80’s with pop-rock band Ella Mental in SA and in the early nineties performed in many prestigious shows overseas, including the Montreux Jazz Festival. Since returning to SA she has performed in a number of productions with Jazzart and created music/theatre shows that have toured the country. Ian Cohen (vox, bass) was the bass player with internationally recognized SA band, Bright Blue. Their 90’s hit ‘Weeping’ has just been covered by Josh Groban. He brings his own brand of vocals and acoustic bass playing to the mix.
Tonia Selley’s (vox, perc, guitar) previous band ‘The Pressure Cookies’ had great radio play with their hit ‘Don’t call me Baby’ and she is an accomplished percussion player and vocalist. She is also Nataniel’s perc. and backing vocalist whenever he is performing. Mark Harris has accompanied Heather Mac in solo performances for the last ten years. He has played a key role in bands ‘The Cool Bananas” and “The Tasty Free Radicals” He has a great following whenever he plays his Tom Waits tribute show.
Expect uplifting original songs and breathtaking harmonies.
