Stef Bos
Stef Bos (Veenendaal, July 12, 1961) is a Dutch singer, who has been living in Antwerp, Belgium, since 1984. He sings in Dutch, and has known success in Belgium, the Netherlands and South-Africa ever since his first single "Papa" (Daddy) came out in 1990.
Stef records an album (Together as One) in 1993 for which he works together with Johannes Kerkorrel and Tandie Klaasen, two famous South African singers. From that moment on he fell in love with South Africa and the music. We can hear the influence from Africa in his later albums like 'de onderstroom'
Bos began his career a student in cabaret, appearing in the famed cabaret festival Delft in 1981. He then became part of the duo Idioten Blozen Niet which took second place at the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival/Wim Sonneveld Concours.
His career took him through many parts of Holland and Belgium and his song, Door De Wind, was the Belgian entry in the 1989 Eurovision Song Festival. His first single. Is Dit Nu Later, was released in 1990, and his second, Gek Zijn Is Gezonm was a great success. A year later he relesased an album, Is Dit Nu Later. In 1991, a single from the album, Papa, was his first great hit, ensuing that the album won double platinum and other awards.
His first Afrikaans collection of poetry was released throughout South Africa in July 2004 by means of a countrywide tour and, after just a couple of months, the anthology made the top of Afrikaans books’ best sel lers’ list. The Inniebos festival also acknowledged him with the award for best production.
His collection, Gebroke Sinne, has been illustrated in oil by the upcoming Cape sensation Marriana Booyens, and the illustrations speak the same language of the joining of worlds once far apart. The volume contains his poems, thoughts and unsung songs, parts of which will be incorporated in the show. Bos is known for his uncomplicated philosophies
